THE PROCEDURE:
The chain is placed around the disk which is attached to the
motor. The wooden platform is set under the motor so
that it slants downward. The motor is turned on and
slowly accelerated to maximum speed. When maximum
speed is attained, the chain loop is then pushed off the
rotating hub with a stick. The loop drops to the
platform and, maintaining its circular shape, rolls down the
platform like a rigid hoop. A piece of wood is placed
on the platform to show that the hoop will roll over a
object without being deformed.
